A Story That Shaped The Pinehills@25

This is the first in our series of shared stories celebrating The Pinehills 25th anniversary. We're honored to feature the voices of those who have helped shape this place over the past quarter-century.
When George Egan of Egan Landscape Group looks back on his years working with The Pinehills, one sweet memory stands out — a seasonal garden shop that grew out of his team's dedication to serving the young Pinehills village.

From Landscape Contractors to Pinehills Family
Egan began their relationship with The Pinehills as landscape contractors, helping to plant and maintain the now iconically beautiful grounds. But George served neighbors in another way. In the early days, he opened "The Potting Bench by Egan's," a pop-up seasonal garden shop right in the Village Green. Located in the building that is now home to The Blueberry Muffin, this charming shop sold hanging plants, annuals, perennials, and garden supplies to the village's growing community of neighbors.
"It was during that summer that we got to meet many of the wonderful neighbors of The Pinehills," George recalls. What makes this memory even more special? His children, then in elementary school, would occasionally help out at the shop. "My children are grown now, but it's a great memory when I look back at them in pictures working there."
Today, George's daughter Kaylee is 21 years old—a reminder of just how much time has passed since those early Village Green days.

More Than Just Business
For George, The Pinehills represents something much deeper than a professional relationship. "Honestly, my business wouldn't be where it is today without The Pinehills," he shares. "Working with them has been such a great experience for so many reasons."
What sets The Pinehills apart in George's experience is the way the organization treats its partners. "Everyone there—from the leadership to every employee—has always been amazing to work with. It's never felt like we were 'just contractors.' They've always made us feel like part of their team, and that means a lot."
George credits Tony Green and the team, including the now-retired John Judge, with creating something truly special. "I'm not sure Tony and his team even realize the impact they've had. What they've built isn't just about houses or construction—it's about people. They've created something that's helped businesses like mine grow, and supported families, including my own and my employees'."
The Heart of The Pinehills
When asked to describe The Pinehills in just a few words, George's response captures the essence of what makes this place unique: "It's not just beautiful homes and landscapes, it's the people that make The Pinehills truly special."
Today, Egan Landscape Group continues to help keep The Pinehills looking extra beautiful, maintaining the stunning grounds that neighbors and visitors alike have come to know and enjoy. From those early days at The Potting Bench to the comprehensive landscaping they provide today over five square miles, George and his team remain an integral part of what makes The Pinehills flourish.
