A February Staycation, Pinehills Style

Slow down, step outside, and savor winter — close to home.

Last month we received an inspired email from our friends at Visit New England and See Plymouth, who encouraged us with a list of ways to savor winter here in Plymouth. We want to share it with you, edited to include a refreshed list of upcoming events and some of our favorite ways to enjoy the season right here in 🌲 The Pinehills. So, passing on the inspiration, we've got a few ideas to help you unplug, exhale (yes, you can see your breath,) and reset — right here in Plymouth.

February in Massachusetts has a quieter rhythm. There’s space to slow down and just be. With February vacation coming soon and many of us staying local (though we do love a warm, beachy getaway,) it’s the perfect time to lean into what winter does best around here.

And if you’re in the mood to really explore all that’s happening around The Pinehills, the Events page here at pinehills.com is great place to start — there’s always something going on, and something new to discover!

Reflect on the Past

This region is steeped in history and there's no better time to beat the crowds than winter.

  • Pilgrim Hall Museum - Explore the world’s most significant Plymouth Colony collection and enjoy programming all year. Upcoming: The New Plimmoth Gard celebrates Establishment Day (2/16) and Plymouth Black History Walking Tour (2/21)
  • Plimoth Patuxet - has an entire line-up of family friendly activities around school vacation week (2/14 through 2/22 - we're wondering whose kid we can borrow to make Pancakes with a Pilgrim and learn Wampanoag Finger Weaving.) Or, grown-ups can catch up on Oscar nominees in the Plimoth Cinema.
  • 🌲 History in The Pinehills - Think of it as a grown-up scavenger hunt. Sacrifice Rock, a trail walk down Old Sandwich Road, capped off by a fireside meal at the Rye Tavern (the old Cornish's Tavern - just like John Adams once did!)

Whether it’s a quiet walk, a cozy meal, or a moment just for yourself, February is full of simple ways to enjoy where you are—no travel required.

And last but not least, most of us will be in front of the TV this coming Sunday...Let’s Go Pats! 🏈
