Having summered for many years in Manomet and having gone to college in Vermont, I thought The Pinehills captured the essence of some of my favorite places.

My husband and I are Pinehills residents, having lived in Briarwood since October 2020. But my connection with Pinehills begins much earlier.

I was on a Pinehills mailing list for which I periodically received information and invitations to events. Having received a brunch invitation in December one year, not sure the year but earlier than 2000, I encouraged my parents to join me, as I thought that this was a community that would interest them. While they weren’t available, I attended just by myself.

It was a very cold Sunday in December, and I was greeted warmly at the Summerhouse. Much to my surprise, I was the only brunch attendee. After enjoying a delicious brunch spread, the sales representative, Martha Bartlett, offered to take me on a personal tour of the property. She drove us all around the grounds, including going part way up the driveway of the Talcott Estate. I don’t remember that there were any buildings other than the Summerhouse and the Talcott home. I had a wonderful time and I loved the area! In fact, when I got home to my house in Hingham, I told my husband and son that I wanted to move to The Pinehills.
