The Gang of ATE (Greatest of All-Time Eaters). It fits! And our "gang" of close friends is a special element of life in The Pinehills.
We got together as a group for the first time at the Wine Lovers Club holiday event in December 2017... four couples united by a love of food, wine, and enjoyable company.
Four of us had met while our houses were under construction by MacKenzie Brothers. Three of us knew each other from the Glee Club. All of us had been enjoying the Wine Lovers Club since moving to The Pinehills in 2017.
Our conversation revolved around food and wine, and an idea was proposed to start a "supper club." Very quickly the guidelines were established: We would meet once a month, rotating hosting duties. The host couple would establish the theme and supply the main dish. The three remaining couples would provide appetizer, salad, and dessert.
Our first get-together, in January 2018, set the tone. We savored the food (Italian theme), drank many bottles of wine, and thoroughly enjoyed each other's company. A tradition was born and has continued!
We've enjoyed many interesting dinner themes—from specific cuisines (French, Peruvian, Polish, English), to overall mood (romantic, easy summer), to events (Kentucky Derby, wine-focused murder mystery). The food has been great and the conversation and camaraderie even greater.
In addition to our monthly dinners, we've shared outings (New Year's brunch on the Cape), events (Holiday Pops concerts), impromptu pizza and movie parties, boating and biking expeditions, and special celebrations (weddings and anniversaries, New Year's Eve).
Early on, one of us proposed a name for our group: The Gang of ATE (Greatest of All-Time Eaters). It fits! And our "gang" of close friends is a special element of life in The Pinehills. We have different interests, other friends, and generally busy lives. We live in four different Pinehills neighborhoods. But our dinners together are a priority and a continuing delight.
