For most of us who've moved here within the last two decades—and that includes pretty much everyone in The Pinehills—it's been difficult to establish a connection to the larger Plymouth community simply because we've had no way of knowing what's happening. It's been akin to walking around wearing blindfolds. But since November 2023, that's changed because of the journalism done by the Plymouth Independent. Now we know what's going on—what our government is doing, or not doing; what our neighbors town-wide are thinking; how vibrant the local arts and culture scene is. No matter what your politics are, we all need local news. For most of us, thanks to the Independent, there's a greater sense of civic engagement and belonging.

It's been heartening to belong to a community of successful high achievers who want to give something back to Plymouth. That is why The Pinehills is the philanthropic center of Plymouth.
