Moving was the last thing on our minds in 2010 when we were invited to attend a workshop at The Pinehills promoting a new cottage neighborhood. Our daughter, Kristen White, the sales director for Whitman Homes, thought we might be interested in a new concept neighborhood of 32 homes built around a communal park to be built within walking distance of the Village Green.

Having just completed major renovations to our Plymouth home, we had a retirement plan that was five years in the future. However, we were happy to attend the workshop to get an inside look at what was developing in The Pinehills. We were treated to a lovely brunch at the Summerhouse and participated in a workshop where we were asked what kind of design we would be looking for in a cottage-style home. The ideas and conversations were lively and plentiful. Two builders listened, Whitman Homes and McKenzie Brothers, and the result you see today is our beautiful Summerhouse Cottage neighborhood.

It is hard to recall the hilly terrain of that dusty boot tour so long ago, but the very next morning, we called Whitman Homes to purchase the first lot sold on Shutter Latch. We joined the Whitman model home and the 2010 HGTV Green Home, and so began our construction journey. Fifteen years later, we still know that it was the best decision we could have made. The friendships and experiences of life in The Pinehills have been more than we could ever have imagined.
