...[people] stop me and ask if I live in the enclave and...what I thought. My response was something to the effect that 'I did not care if Whitman Homes modified the indoor plumbing, but I hoped The Pinehills would not touch the paths as the walking trails were magnificent.' LOL"
In 2016, my second son who had graduated from Harvard with a major in Classics, and had always been interested in politics, announced that he was going to run for the State Legislature from Kingston, MA to which he had recently moved. He asked me to help him canvas his district. He suggested that I move to the South Shore from Boxboro, MA where I owned a home and lived alone as my second wife had died of metastatic breast cancer years earlier and my third daughter (i.e. my fifth and last child) was enrolled in the nursing program at Simmons College in Boston.
I asked Michael if he had any suggestions about where I should live. He immediately suggested The Pinehills. I came down and went to Boatwright’s Loop which was in its early stages of construction. I decided that I did not need a free-standing house since I lived alone and that a “townhouse” would be more suitable. The builders representative, Kristen of Whitman Homes, said that she had a home available and, in fact, it was the last in “Phase One”.
The home seemed perfect and it looked out on the “island” separating Boatwright’s Loop from Mainstone Blvd., the entrance to the enclave. One of the most desirable features was that the lower level already had a “finished” room that I immediately planned to use as a study.
In fact, when I went back to the sales office and gave a deposit, the builder’s representative said that no one had ever put down a deposit so expeditiously. By the way, little did I know that my “study” would become my “office” during Covid 19 when everyone started to work at home. I have been working at home ever since. I am a “young” 82 years old and work 50 – 60 hours a week for a healthcare company headquartered in Boston. I had migrated to the “business aspects” medicine from my life as an “academic neonatologist”, (I was a Professor of Pediatrics,) primarily at Brown University School of Medicine where over the years I became known as one of the world’s authorities of glucose metabolism in the neonate and editor of the textbook entitled Principles of Perinatal and Neonatal Metabolism, published by Springer Verlag.
The Pinehills is an idyllic place and has “everything” anyone could ask for. I am an “exercise maven” who finds The Pinehills to be just about perfect. After I moved in and was walking my usual 10,000 -12,000 steps daily, individuals who were driving around looking at the enclave would stop me and ask if I live in the enclave and asked what I thought. My response was something to the effect that “ I did not care if Whitman Homes modified the “indoor plumbing”, but I hoped The Pinehills would not touch the “paths” as the walking trails were magnificent.” LOL
In a word: Who could ask for anything more?
