I moved to The Pinehills in 2010. There was so much to do, I didn't know where to begin.
Stagedoor Players Productions
As a young girl, my father used to say to me, "Who are you performing for?" I didn't quite understand what he meant. As far as I was concerned, I was just being me.
When I went to college, we had a competition between the different dorm floors to see who could put on the silliest show. That was my first time acting and I loved it. There was an acting group where I lived before coming here; but, I was too busy to check it out.
One of my neighbors told me about an acting group here in The Pinehills and suggested I come and check it out. It just so happened they were starting a new play and were looking for people to try out. I said to myself, "I did this in college and it was a piece of cake, I can do this." They asked me for my acting experience and I may have exaggerated it a little! But guess what, I got the leading woman role — it was "Nicky and Dee" (a tale of two Boomers). It was so much fun, I loved it. That is until the day of the first performance. I was a wreck that day. I kept saying, "How do I get out of this?" I had friends and family in the audience and thought, "How do I face them after this performance?" Well as you can guess, everything went fine. You just have to pretend you are that other person, and everything is fine.
I loved acting and was sorry when we had to stop. It can be fun being someone else.
