I am grateful for Christine and her painting class... this new talent that I have found within me through my grief.

My husband and I moved here in November 2018. We were excited about our new life.

He was still working full time, but from home. I was babysitting our grandchildren and loving every moment. He was diagnosed with a rare form of melanoma in February 2019, and our life changed. Our years here were back and forth to Boston.

We met and cherished our close neighbors. Our family time was cherished with our four grandchildren. After a courageous battle, my husband Steve passed in March 2021. Needless to say, I enveloped myself in my family. My grandkids were my saving grace. I miss my husband every day, every special and not-so-special moment.

That is when Christine Shea started a healing grief through painting. I am not a joiner. But I knew I had to help myself live with this grief.

I am grateful for Christine and her painting class. I am still busy with my grandchildren but always find the time to incorporate this new talent that I have found within me through my grief.

If I can post a couple of pictures, the first will be of my husband during our New Year's Day walk in 2019. The second is of my granddaughter during our walk yesterday through the village, looking at all the pictures and discovering Nana along the way.

Thank you for this opportunity to share the short time I've been here, filled with love, sadness, grief, joy, and peace. – Karen
