We have owned, and lived in many areas but found that our current neighborhood is the friendliest.
Last year's candle lighting
My wife Alyce and I have been married for 72 years. I grew up in Connecticut. After my first retirement we moved to Hyannis and helped our son start a bakery. I helped with deliveries. I found The Pinehills one day when I made a delivery to the golf club restaurant.
The next weekend I took my wife for a ride and introduced her to The Pinehills. We stopped at the Summerhouse and were referred to Great Island. The second phase was starting and we put down a deposit for a house to be built. We selected a location from a map as the street hadn't been started. On September 29, 2005 we became the owners and moved in. There are 32 homes on Canoe Landing and about half of them are still occupied by some of the original owners.
We have made many good friends at The Pinehills and partake in many activities. We have owned, and lived in many areas but found that our current neighborhood is the friendliest. We consider 29 Canoe Landing in Great Island to be the home that we were always looking for.
Canoe Landing recently celebrated its 20th annual block party. This year (2025), for the 20th year on Christmas Eve, we'll be lighting our Luminaria – Arnold Gladstein
