Binky, make the road like God would make it.

Binky, make the road like God would make it.

Constructing meandering roadways within a narrow right-of-way requires great skill. The first heavy equipment operator working on road construction was an older experienced operator who went by the nickname "Binky." The powerful equipment that Binky operated had the ability to effortlessly uproot trees and level the ground, which was exactly what Binky started to do.

Binky was stopped by The Pinehills' Construction Manager Ken Moore. Binky was instructed to "make the road like God would make it." Binky smiled and acknowledged that he understood the directive. From that point forward, Binky proceeded to carefully sculpt the right-of-way. He skillfully manipulated his heavy equipment to create meandering roadways while saving trees along the road edge.

Although Binky had built roads for decades, he had never been asked to utilize his operator's skill in such a careful manner. Binky was so proud of the work he was doing that one weekend he drove around The Pinehills with his family to proudly showcase his work. It was the first time he had ever done that.

This approach to construction management defined Ken Moore's philosophy at The Pinehills—bringing environmental sensitivity to every project, emphasizing quality and respect for the natural landscape, ensuring that development enhanced rather than replaced the property's inherent beauty. His commitment to working with the land rather than against it became a cornerstone of how The Pinehills was built.
